TEACCH

TEACCH is the statewide program
for individuals with autism in North Carolina. It is a division of
the Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill and has been providing support to individuals with
autism and their families since the early 1970’s. Make-In-No-Time
Tasks, Ltd. Task Sets were developed based on TEACCH’s Structured
Teaching Strategies. To learn more about structured teaching and
developing Visually Structured Tasks, visit the TEACCH website.

Tasks Galore is a series of
picture books filled with example tasks for teachers,
therapists and parents to create as tools for working
with exceptional children. Tasks Galore books
feature colorful and detailed photographs of activities
that were developed in
TEACCH affiliated programs
for children with autism. This is a MUST HAVE series if
you are looking for creative tasks that address a broad
range of curriculum standards. |

durable activities with clear beginnings and ends. They have been
used extensively with students with autism spectrum disorders and
other developmental disabilities as a first step in learning how to
learn. They are engaging and capitalize on the learning strengths of
individuals with autism. We love them all, but our favorite is “RED

information, resources and activities related to
hippotherapy, sensory integration, developmental
disabilities, hand development, and autism. The
book offers many ideas on constructing
activities for the developmentally disabled. Her
website is rich in information, resources, and
links to other materials on autism.
